Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR)
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly effective psychotherapeutic technique designed by Francine Shapiro in 1987 for the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Over time EMDR has been modified and improved upon. It is now recognised in many countries and by many organisations as an excellent means of helping patients deal with traumatic past events. As the process has evolved it is now commonly used to help patients stop smoking and for weight control.
EMDR therapy
I use EMDR as one of the methodologies to treat a number of different issues. Take a look and see if I can help you.
Bringing EMDR up to date has resulted in a technology-driven treatment system during which the eye movement element of the therapy is delivered using computer simulation. This method is now used extensively for patients who wish to stop smoking or to lose weight. EMDR can be used in these therapies to help to instil new, healthier lifestyle practices.
In combination with traditional hypnotherapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques, EMDR is helping deliver significant, and in many cases, life-changing results.
